Rock Notes

November 2021
Happy Thanksgiving from the left coast! It's been a while since I sat down and wrote a few words for the website so I thought "do it today while you feel good Dan"! That's the way it is these days, if you wake up feeling good you better get to it!
I am listening to Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen right now. My old buddy Billy C. is singing "have you heard the news there’s good rocking tonight?"! And yes, there is. Just go put your favorite record on and there ya go! Sadly ,we lost Cody last month. I played a few gigs with him over the years and he was a nice guy and very smart. If you haven't heard "Live Deep In The Heart Of Texas", you need to go download or whatever you do for music these days and check it out!
Meanwhile I have busy working on a lyric book that I hope to put out next year ->2022. It’s a lot more work than I thought it would be. I am up to a little over 100 right now, and I think I will max out at 150. My goal is to say something about each song, but we will see if I can keep the party going through the whole process, I have to pace myself. I have to say it's been fun going back and looking at the various stages of my writing and trying to remember where I was when I wrote each song. I will be doing a limited run of 100 books, which should hit almost my entire fan base! I will let you know how it's going next spring.
I just finished watching the Tom Petty movie "Somewhere You Feel Free" on Youtube and it was so good. I watched it twice! It's the making of the Wildflowers album which was Tom's favorite album apparently, and I can see why it would be, his writing on that record was pretty spectacular. So another one of Dan's picks to click. And of course, we are all jacked up for the Beatles "Get Back" movie coming out at Thanksgiving.
Before I go I would also like to mention our drummer Rory Judge had to have some minor surgery a few weeks ago, so send some good thoughts his way. I am really hoping we can get back to a regular gig schedule next year, and who knows, maybe a few new tunes for the peoples.
Dig you later, Danny
